Business Priorities

The Mohegan Tribe is proud to play a key role in Connecticut's economy by leveraging our global investments to expand financial opportunities in our communities here at home.

As Mohegan continues its journey, the spirit of Mohegan Tribe culture guides the path toward prosperity and, in turn, giving back. In addition, the Tribe operates the casino at Virgin Hotels in Las Vegas. Within all properties, we generate a significant amount of revenue for government partners, with proceeds from our operations funding projects that improve the lives of all residents. In 2019 alone, Mohegan’s North America properties generated a total of $5.2 billion in local economic activity as well generating $760 million dollars for state, provincial, and local governments in the United States and Canada.

Mohegan’s properties include the Tribe’s flagship property Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Connecticut, Mohegan Sun Pocono in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, right in the heart of the region. The memorable beauty of Niagara Falls sets the stage for Mohegan Niagara, housing both the Fallsview Casino Resort and Casino Niagara in Ontario, Canada. Lastly, the Resorts Atlantic City located on the bustling New Jersey coastline.

Finally, Mohegan will be expanding to Southeast Asia with the Inspire Resort in South Korea. This will be a first-of-its-kind, $5 billion resort featuring a remarkable three-tower luxury hotel, premier dining, shopping, foreign-only casino, convention center and the largest entertainment arena in the entire country.

Closer to home in Connecticut, we have a decades-long track record of contributing directly to the state’s bottom line. Per the original agreement in 1994, our tribal nation agreed to an historic revenue sharing agreement with the state which guaranteed payments to the state of $160 million per year. In the nearly 30 years since, that agreement has generated over $4.5 billion dollars that have underwritten essential public services, crucial infrastructure projects, and educational and community programs across the entire state of Connecticut.

Working with Government and Investing in Our Communities

While we are proud of our unique heritage and customs, the Mohegan Tribe is by no means an insular group. In fact, working with and investing in our neighborhoods and communities across Connecticut is one of the Tribe’s leading principles.

When Mohegan Sun began operating in Uncasville in 1996, we were excited to bring sustainable, quality employment opportunities to Southeastern Connecticut. As we’ve grown, we are continuing to expand our workforce and

forge new partnerships with local businesses and vendors throughout the region.

Most recently, we partnered with many local and state public officials to help legalize online gaming and sports wagering in Connecticut. According to the Governor’s office, this will generate tens of millions of dollars in new revenue for the state. We are thrilled to be able to offer modernized gaming that helps our state economy recover quickly from the pandemic.

Problem Gambling

The Mohegan Tribe has a long history as a leader in combating problem gambling, from employing the latest technologies and systems to serving as regional and national leaders in addressing these behavioral health challenges.

Our business recognizes that for most people, gambling is a social or recreational activity — something that is fun and entertaining. For others, gambling causes problems, becoming uncontrollable, and making it no longer a choice. We believe that it is our responsibility to be sensitive to our guests and our host community by proactively addressing problem gambling.

That is why we are proud to partner with Yale University on an initiative that will result in the creation of a cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) digital intervention aimed at expanding treatment options for individuals suffering from problem gambling. Additionally, we have been strong champions and supporters of the CT Council on Problem Gambling, which continues to invest millions of dollars in critical programs to serve our customers and our community.

We want anyone who may have a problem to know that you don’t have to face this alone. We’ve compiled information on signs of problem gambling, a self-assessment, and resources to help you or a loved one at: www.mohegangaming.com/responsible-gaming/
